The actor Gigio Morra died in Naples, he was 78 years old.
His was a life for the theatre, he came from the school of Eduardo de Filippo, cinema and television, a popular performer in the cast of Rai dramas such as Un Posto al Sole (where Peppino Canfora was), Inspector Montalbano, I Bastardi di Pizzofalcone, Imma Tataranni.
Twenty-five films under his belt, since his debut with Marco Bellocchio in 1976 (Marcia Trionfale), Morra had worked with the main Italian directors, such as Nanni Moretti, Mario Martone, Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah), Marco Risi, Antonio Capuano, Lina Wertmuller.
His second teacher was in the theater Carlo Cecchi, then Leo de Bernardinis.
It was also directed on stage by Maurizio Scaparro, Giuseppe Patroni Griffi, Luca De Filippo and Toni Servillo (in Goldoni's Holiday Trilogy).
The news of the death of the artist, who was born in Naples on 26 August 1945, was given in a Facebook post by his wife Lucia Mandarini: "My love has left me, he was a sweet, gentle man and a great actor. I he left in the greatest despair. I will love you forever."
The funeral will take place on Tuesday 12 March in the church of Santa Caterina a Chiaia.
