© Simply Tasty
The charm of the wooden spoon moves the husband to eternal love...
...is a Thai proverb that is comparable to the saying “
The way to your heart is through your stomach
”.
With our recipe for satay skewers, grilled chicken skewers in a spicy peanut marinade, you can taste love at the first bite.
Satay skewers
originally come from
Indonesia
.
They are now known and popular in many Southeast Asian countries.
Due to
colonization
, satay skewers or satay sauce even found their way into
Dutch cuisine
, for example as an
accompaniment to fries
.
Satay means nothing other than
meat grilled on bamboo skewers over charcoal
.
They are usually served with a spicy peanut sauce.
With us, the meat skewers are directly coated with peanut marinade and, served with rice, are the perfect Asian main course.
This is how you can bring the taste of Southeast Asia into your kitchen without much effort.
That's how it's done:
You need these ingredients:
For the peanut marinade:
100g peanut butter
3 tbsp soy sauce
3 tbsp coconut milk
2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped
0.5 tsp pepper
Aside from that:
400g chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
Shish kebab skewers
To garnish:
Coriander, picked
Peanuts, coarsely chopped
Preparation is so easy:
For the peanut marinade:
In a small bowl, mix the peanut butter with soy sauce, coconut milk, garlic, ginger and pepper.
Pour the peanut marinade over the chicken breast in a bowl and stir well.
Skewer the marinated chicken breast pieces onto shish kebab sticks.
Fry the skewers in a pan, turning occasionally, until crispy and lightly browned on all sides.
Serve with rice and garnish with coriander and peanuts to taste.
Enjoy your meal!
