This Oscar will help me get through the midlife crisis,” joked the French director as she arrived on stage, out of breath, to collect her statuette with her companion Arthur Harari.
“Tonight’s glamor contrasts with the debut of this film.
You know, we were stuck at home with our two children.
It was confinement and we tuned them into cartoons to have peace.
And yes I think there was no boundary between diapers and work.”

Anatomy of a Fall
, a legal thriller about the downfall of a dysfunctional artist couple, where a writer finds herself accused of the murder of her husband, had already won a plethora of honors: prize d'Or, two Golden Globes, six Césars, including best director.
A work which stands out as the best representative of French cinema internationally since
Amour
, Oscar winner for best foreign film in 2013, and
The Artist
, which won five statuettes in 2012.

Behind the scenes of the Oscars ceremony, French director Justine Triet then confided all her emotion this Sunday after the exceptional performance of her film.
“I’m so happy, it means that films are crossing borders,” she told the French press, as reported by AFP.
“It’s a huge relief for everyone, because we started the race in September,” she further emphasized.
“We made an independent film in France on a modest budget, so that means a lot for the future.”
