Minister of the Interior Moshe Arbel arrived this morning (Monday) for a visit to the Rama complex in Gani Tikva, at the initiative of Deputy Mayor Tal Mattiyo.

After years of neglect, the Rama complex in Gani Tikva has turned into a sad reflection of the attitude towards the elderly and the indigent in Israel, who deserve security and peace of mind.

Over the years and due to the dilapidated condition of the building where they live - there are many tenants who live in daily anxiety.

We emphasize that only a few months ago a major disaster was averted in the compound: during the night hours a deafening explosion was heard.

When they went outside, they discovered that a large piece of concrete had fallen right at the entrance to one of the buildings in the complex, and only by a miracle was a disaster avoided.

In addition, during the winter the tenants suffer from leaks everywhere, mold, and rot that endangers their health.

They demand that a critical evacuation project be promoted in the old and dilapidated buildings, which put the lives of the residents in tangible danger.

During the visit, Minister Arbel said: "Seeing something like this in the center of the country is intolerable. It's not caught. It's not slams that you see even in the most failed countries, and it's our mission for all of us to turn this place into the gem it deserves. The Rama complex in Gani Tikva is not can stay like this. To understand the risk that people live in and buildings tend to fall, in such a difficult reality a minute away from Sabion, literally walking distance. This reality indicates gaps that a reformed country cannot contain. We will stand by your right in whatever it takes."

"Apartment owners try to improve their private properties out of self-interest"

The Municipality of Gani Tikva responded: "We are witnessing an election and public relations campaign run by capitalists, entrepreneurs and apartment owners who rent out the apartments and want to improve their private properties out of narrow personal and financial interest, all of this under the cover of cynical use of disadvantaged populations including senior citizens. Those owners Interests are trying to put pressure on the municipality in order to bend the proper manager of the professional workers and the one who heads it and carry out a large-scale construction evacuation project that, in the absence of suitable infrastructure, is not suitable for the environment - and this is not the way of Gani Tikva"

At the request of the residents of the neighborhood, a plan that allows for a solution to strengthen the buildings was approved over three years ago years and the municipality will give priority to handling permits of this type in the neighborhood.

The municipality of Gani Tikva proactively carried out a wide survey to check dangerous buildings throughout the settlement, with an emphasis on the Rama neighborhood, and continues to provide dedicated reviews on an ongoing basis and according to a request that comes when there is concern about a dangerous building.

As of today, there is no building that is defined as a building at risk of collapse in the Rama neighborhood and in Ganei Tikva in general."

"In the context of the case in question and in light of a review conducted by the engineering department of the municipality, it emerged that it is not a building at risk of collapse but small pieces of plaster that fell from the front of the building.

Before the rule of law, the municipality in cooperation with the building committee decided to erect roofs immediately to protect the pedestrians and it will continue to operate from an overall view that puts the well-being, quality of life and personal safety of all its residents at the center.
