The goal: to raise 2,000 doctors in the next five years

In light of the success of the event model in recent years, a first-of-its-kind agreement was signed to establish a new national program to encourage the promotion of doctors from all over the world.

The new program is part of a joint move by the "Nefesh Benefesh" organization, the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption, the Ministry of Health and the Jewish Agency with the assistance of the Marcus Foundation.

The project is designed to address the manpower shortage in Israel's health system, which is getting worse every year, with the clear goal of bringing to Israel about 2,000 Jewish doctors from around the world during the next five years.

The findings of a report recently published by

Prof. Gabi Ben Nun

show that "the organization 'Nefesh Benefesh' can increase the number of immigrants with health professions in response to the needs of the system. The costs involved in increasing the organization's efforts to increase immigration are dozens of times lower than the state's alternative spending to train these doctors and nurses in Israel."

Later in the report, it is estimated that "the cumulative savings in the public budget in the field of training doctors and nurses in Israel as a result of the organization's activities amounts to over NIS 400 million.

It was also announced that the next MedEx outside of American soil will be held on March 31 of this year in Paris and will be the first step for the program among the Jewish community in France and Belgium, with the aim of maximizing the potential in bringing the number of doctors who will integrate into the Israeli economy.

"Given the importance and potential for bringing doctors to the State of Israel, upon my assumption of office we established the directorate of doctors in the ministry, which will strengthen the health system in Israel," Minister of Immigration and Absorption, Ofir Sofer, said at the conference.

"I was happy to meet hundreds of doctors, some of whom are in advanced immigration procedures and some of whom are interested in the procedure. We will help them go through the bureaucratic procedures easily and integrate into the health system in Israel quickly. Already during the 'Iron Swords' war, about 200 doctors from abroad came to Israel to help the hospitals treat the wounded The many, and for that we thanked them today on behalf of the State of Israel."

The Minister of Health, Uriel Bosso

, was also

present at the conference and added: "The strengthening of the health system with high-quality professionals and experts in their field is an important and essential step for the medical system in Israel, which suffers from a severe shortage of doctors. The national plan that we are promoting is necessary at this time."

The conference was closed

by Rabbi Yehoshua Pess

, co-founder and CEO of "Nefesh Benefesh", who said: "Every year, MedEx has proven itself to be a tremendous attraction for Jewish doctors from America who have managed to overcome bureaucratic and occupational barriers.

We thank our partners and the generous donation of the Marcus Foundation, for trusting in our model and for allowing this program to come to fruition, in order to respond to a burning national need.

This joint venture is a huge leap forward for us as an organization and great news for the State of Israel and Diaspora Jewry, and will help them establish their home here, so that they will contribute greatly to the Israeli health system for years to come.

" with the Israeli health institutions, under one roof - before their immigration to Israel. As part of it, the participants began the process of converting their medical license and recognition of their expertise, even before their immigration to Israel, and also held rounds of interviews with representatives of hospitals and health insurance funds in the center and the periphery, with the aim of speeding up the bureaucratic procedures involved in their immigration, and for the benefit of their immediate integration into the professions for which they were trained.

The event was held in the USA for the third year at the initiative of the "Nefesh Benefesh" organization and the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption in cooperation with the Jewish Agency, KKL-Junk, JNF-USA, the Ministry of Health and the Israel Medical Association.
