Highlights: Biopic on Lagerfeld, “Fallout”, Michael Douglas… the Canneseries festival unveils its program. The 7th edition of the festival supported by Canal + will open with the screening of “Terminal’ The TF1 series “Brocéliande’, new to the singer Nolwenn Leroy, and “Camping Paradis” will also be the subject of meetings with the public. Adaptation of the video game “Fallout”, biopics on Karl Lagerfeld and Benjamin Franklin respectively carried by Daniel Brühl and Michael Douglas… Canneseries (April 5-10) unveiled this Tuesday a strong program around highly anticipated series, promising yet another shower of stars on the Croisette.

The 7th edition of the festival supported by Canal + will open with the screening of “Terminal”, a sitcom created by Jamel Debbouze for the encrypted channel and performed by Ramzy Bedia and Camille Chamoux (25 years after their other successful series “H "), it was announced during a press conference organized a few days before the launch of Lille competitor Séries Mania (March 15-22).

Outside of competition, previews will continue with “Fallout”, an adaptation of the eponymous franchise for the Amazon platform, Prime Video.

One of its actors, Kyle MacLachlan (“Twin Peaks,” “Desperate Housewives”), will receive an honorary award, as will the series' lead, Ella Purnell (“Yellowjackets”).

He will also deliver a masterclass.

A shower of stars

Participants will also discover Daniel Brühl (“Good Bye Lenin!” “Inglorious Basterds”) in “Becoming Karl Lagerfeld”, a production made in France for Disney + previously titled “Kaiser Karl” and which will be released on June 7.

The six-episode series, adapted from the biography written by Le Monde journalist Raphaëlle Bacqué, traces the rise, in the 1970s, of Karl Lagerfeld, before he became the emblematic couturier of the house of Chanel.

Pierre Niney will appear as an overwhelmed director in “Fiasco” (Netflix) and Michael Douglas as the founding father of the United States in “Franklin” (Apple TV +), the closing series.

Other highlights of the festival include a meeting with Jason Priestley, Brandon from “Beverly Hills”, Vanessa Morgan (“Riverdale”) and Giacomo Gianniotti (“Grey's Anatomy”), from the cast of the Canadian series “Wild Cards”.

The TF1 series “Brocéliande”, new to the singer Nolwenn Leroy, and “Camping Paradis”, a success since 2006 with Laurent Ournac, will also be the subject of meetings with the public.

A few months before the Paris Olympics (July 26-August 11), sports fans will also be able to attend a screening of the Canal + documentary “Handball, a family story”, before speaking with Jackson Richardson, emblem of the generation of “Barjots” and first star of French handball.

Those of “Dragon Ball” will be able to follow a conversation with Brigitte Lecordier, the French voice of San Goku.

On the competition side, eight works from as many countries, including for the first time China and Brazil (with a biopic on the sociologist Herbert de Souza), will compete in the long format category, under the magnifying glass of a jury announced later.

Hosted by Bertrand Usclat (“Broute”), the opening ceremony will be broadcast on Canal +.
