This is the third largest gain ever won in France via a ballot validated on the Internet.
A Frenchman received his check for 87,952,585 euros this Monday, March 11, won during the EuroMillions draw on January 16, announced Française des jeux (FDJ) in a press release.
This forty-year-old, who wished to remain anonymous, did not reveal his region of residence.
An occasional player, he validated his lucky numbers from time to time via the FDJ application, with the hope of winning the jackpot.
Playing 10, 18, 21, 33, 45, and stars 8 and 12, he bet right and won the jackpot.
Real estate work and investments
The day after the draw, the man looked at the results without really believing them: “It was early, I hesitated for a long time about going to work that morning,” he told the FDJ.
His bank advisor, quickly informed of this great news and delighted for his client, began to play.
“I asked him to avoid winning;
he’s a very good banker and I wouldn’t want to lose him,” he said, amused.
The new multimillionaire is now considering leaving his current “very physically demanding” job.
The sum should in particular allow him to carry out work at his home, but also real estate investments, “the purchase of old cars or even trips, in Australia and the United States in particular”, he detailed.
He finally expressed the hope that this money would benefit others, whether through donations to associations or by financially supporting young entrepreneurs.

This gain is however not the biggest won in France, since the record for a ticket validated on the Internet remains 200 million euros, validated in December 2020, followed by a check for 162 million euros won during 'a draw in November 2021.
