From around 6 in the morning, the rain raged on the City and a good part of Greater Buenos Aires.
The National Meteorological Service (SMN) launched an
orange alert for strong storms for this Tuesday in the AMBA.
In some Buenos Aires neighborhoods there were streets
flooded
by the large amount of water and
fallen trees.
In localities in the center and west of Buenos Aires, the area covered by an
orange level warning
, they expect intense electrical activity, hail, intense gusts and, fundamentally, abundant falls of water in short periods.
“The area will be affected by rainfall and storms, some locally heavy or severe.
Accumulated precipitation values
are estimated between 50 and 80 mm
, which may be exceeded from time to time," said that organization in its latest report, published this Monday afternoon.
More than a third of the Buenos Aires territory is covered by this alert that anticipates the possibility of these phenomena developing
in the morning hours
.
Among the affected municipalities are Adolfo Alsina, Trenque Lauquen, Azul, Tapalqué, Olavarría, General Villegas, Arrecifes, Carmen de Areco, Junín, Pergamino, Chivilcoy and Nueve de Julio.
The recommendations that the agency issued for this area are to remain in closed constructions such as houses, schools or buildings;
stay away from electrical appliances and avoid using corded phones;
and stay inside the vehicle if the person is traveling.
You should also avoid driving on flooded or affected streets;
cut off the electricity supply to the home if there is a risk of water entering;
Contact local emergency agencies and have an emergency backpack ready.
Meanwhile,
the south and east of the province, like the City of Buenos Aires, is under a yellow alert
.
For the afternoon they also predicted storms, some locally strong, but “with accumulated precipitation values of between 40 and 60 mm, which can be exceeded occasionally.
The other regions reached by this warning are the east of Jujuy and La Pampa;
the west of Salta;
the south of Entre Ríos, Santa Fe, Córdoba and Neuquén;
the northwest of Mendoza;
northern Santa Cruz;
almost the entire province of Chubut;
and the entirety of San Luis and Río Negro.
In these cases, the SMN suggests not taking out the trash;
remove objects that prevent water from draining;
avoid outdoor activities;
do not take shelter near trees and electricity poles that may fall;
and do not stay on beaches, rivers, lagoons or pools due to the risk of being struck by lightning.

After the torrential rains recorded this Monday, the SMN assured that on Tuesday there will be another day spent by water in the City of Buenos Aires, where
strong storms are expected in the afternoon and night
.
In any case, it is estimated that precipitation will begin in the morning, after an early morning with mostly cloudy skies.
Temperatures will range between 23° at the beginning of the day and 27° in the afternoon, while gusts of up to 50 kilometers per hour could be recorded.
Always according to that organization's forecast, rainfall will continue on Wednesday and Thursday, and only on Friday is a day expected to have partially cloudy skies but no rain.
