As part of the European Union operation Aspides, the Duilio ship shot down two aerial drones, implementing the principle of self-defense.
This was announced by the Ministry of Defense.
About ten days ago, Duilio, which was not yet Aspides' operational base, had foiled another Houthi attack by shooting down a drone.
"Congratulations to the crew of the destroyer Caio Duilio who shot down two drones in the Red Sea as part of the EU Aspides mission. @ItalianNavy guarantees free navigation and protects our merchant ships. Proud of our sailors!".
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani wrote it in X.
