In 2006, when his song
Smile
hit the airwaves, it was an immediate success.
Lily Allen was only 21 years old at the time, but her song became a number one on the charts in the United Kingdom and with it she became one of the most famous British singers.
The success lasted several years and was repeated in particular with the release of
Fuck You
in 2009. But according to the singer, it could have lasted longer if she had not made the choice to become a mother.

Juggling motherhood and career
Now 38 years old, Lily Allen has two daughters, born from her union with her ex-husband Sam Cooper.
Ethel Mary was born in 2011 and Marnie Rose in 2013. “My children ruined my career,” she declared on the
Radio Times
podcast , the episode of which was broadcast on March 12.
She added: "I love them and they complete me, but as far as being a pop star goes they ruined everything."
Speaking of the sacrifice that motherhood has represented for her career, the singer goes against the grain of the discourse which would like juggling the two to be easy.
“It really annoys me when people say you can have it all because, quite frankly, that’s not the case,” she said.
Despite the frankness of these words, Lily Allen recognizes that her parental investment is also a matter of choice.
Daughter of actor Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen, she admits to being influenced by her own upbringing.
“Some people choose their career over their children, and that’s their prerogative,” she said.
But my parents were quite absent when I was growing up, and I feel like that left some ugly scars that I don't want to repeat with mine."
