After years of hesitation, France finally seems to be committing to
“assisted dying”

In interviews published on March 11 by
La Croix
and
Libération
, Emmanuel Macron announced that a bill on end of life will be examined in the National Assembly from the end of May.
This text will open “
the possibility of requesting assistance in dying under certain strict conditions”
, specified the Head of State.
In practice, the person will have to administer a lethal substance themselves.
If this is physically impossible, this could be done by a designated third party or by a doctor or nurse.
This divisive bill - the precise content of which has not yet been revealed - will evolve throughout the parliamentary shuttle.
