The
University of Buenos Aires (UBA)
announced this Wednesday that it will keep
closed all the offices
that cannot guarantee their basic functioning due to the national strike of teachers and non-teachers called by the University Trade Union Front for this Thursday, March 14.
The Superior Council of the UBA ordered "the closure of those buildings and facilities in which the minimum operating conditions cannot be guaranteed on that date."
It is a date with few activities, between the end of the summer courses and the end of the exam tables and the beginning of the subjects of the first semester.
However, the entity had a series of activities scheduled for this Thursday;
Due to the force measure they will not be able to be carried out.
"All academic and administrative activities that are affected will be rescheduled," the UBA said in a statement.
On the other hand, they pointed out how other key university departments will work.
In this sense,
the health centers that depend on the UBA will guarantee essential care activities
thanks to the implementation of minimum guards.
This Thursday's strike aims to make visible "
the national government's disdain for the university parity
, in which the authorities imposed by decree an increase of 6% on the 2023 parity, resulting in
a salary delay of 50% in just 90 days of government
," said Federico Montero, Secretary of Organization of CONADU, the National Federation of University Teachers.
Furthermore, teachers and non-teachers demand the
immediate convocation of free joint ventures by the Government
.
The organizations called on legislators to defend the public university by drafting laws that guarantee the operation of the establishments.
Among the organizations that called for the strike are FedUBA, CONADU and CONADU Historica, which
bring together the members of the University of Buenos Aires.
FEDUN, FAGDU, UDA, CTERA and FATUN also joined the force measure, with the endorsement of the CTA and CGT headquarters.
