Isabelle Adjani opens, Alessandro Baricco returns, the Orchestra of Santa Cecilia directed by Barbara Hannigan closes while the opera debuts indoors, "so as to avoid last year's rain", with L'Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss, but Orfeo will also be there and Euridice by Chistoph Willibad Gluck by Damiano Michieletto.
This year too, the city of Spoleto will be overwhelmed from 28 June to 14 July by the creative wave of the festival directed by Monique Veaute, in which the idea of myth winds its way in all its forms, always strongly sustainable as demonstrated by the beautiful poster created for the second time in story by a woman, Chiara Camoni, to whom a solo exhibition will also be dedicated in the city's civic museums.
Focus also on Giorgio Ferrara, director from 2008 to 2020 "who the festival also saved him", underlines Veaute, with an exhibition and a docu, Love letters to Giorgio.
But the 67th edition of the Spoleto Festival is much more, as explained this morning in a press conference by Andrea Sisti, president of the Festival dei due Mondi Foundation and mayor of the city, Paola Agabiti, councilor for culture and tourism in the Umbria region, and Paola Macchi, administrative director and general organisation.
More than 60 shows, by over 30 companies, in 17 days.
"600 artists from 20 countries will be involved - summarized Macchi - in 20 places in the city, which will not only be the theaters but also the streets, squares and even windows. A great party for everyone which last year saw 75 thousand attendees, and 732 thousand euros of revenue, with 138 thousand people in Spoleto".
The appointment with the Mezzogiorno concerts also returns, the theater "of actors and texts", explains Veaute with Leonardo Lidi who concludes the Chekhov trilogy, and Davide Ena among other things, the musical one with Jeanne Candel, the experimentation in dance with between the others Mehdi Kerkouche, Yoann Borgeois, and Friedmann Vogel, music in all its forms from OneohtrixPoint Never, to Baldwin Giang to the jazz of Lizz Wright.
Indeed, the late evening space of the Jazz Club is born.
There is no shortage of initiatives from the Carla Fendi Foundation, congi Science talks, the Stem prize and the Legami exhibition.
As well as the projects in collaboration with Rai for sustainability, such as Culture breaks the bars which promotes theatrical courses within the prison reality, curated by the #SineNOmine association.
