“As bishops of the Church in Argentina, know that, from the bottom of our hearts, we are very close to you in the face of this reality of drug trafficking that is knocking today at the doors of your homes in this tremendous, brutal way, filling your families with pain and helplessness. and to all our people,” say the bishops in the framework of their first meeting of the year.
They warn that
“drugs are killing us
and we must be together to disarm this 'evil' that despises life and is cruel to our children, young people and so many innocent people, victims of the misery of a few, and the complicity of others.” .
“Let us not allow them to kill our hope, to rob us of the dream of a united and peaceful Argentina,” they exhort and ask “the Virgin, our Mother, who knew what it is to lose her son, the Innocent, to console and strengthen them.” ”.
On Sunday in a packed cathedral, the archbishop of Rosario, Eduardo Martín, prayed "for the lives of Rosario residents, so seriously threatened" and for the consolation of the victims' families and asked "not to let ourselves be intimidated by this diabolical violence."
“We want to be together with the authorities to fight against this unjust and rational violence, within the respect of the laws and respect for human dignity,” he said.
