Babybel has brought a new variant onto the market, which some people probably first discovered at Kaufland.

But this is not without its catches.

Munich - There is enormous enthusiasm in this posting, especially since the user has placed it in several Facebook groups: “OH MY GOD YOU ARE HERE,” she writes in capital letters and with an emoji that shows little hearts in her eyes.

She also provides seven photos as evidence.

She discovered the new vegan Babybel variant in the refrigerated section and grabbed it.

Her first conclusion about the green innovation is positive: “Definitely passed the taste test, just brings back childhood memories.

Even the packaging is exactly like the red Babybel back then,” she writes.

She discovered the product in Kaufland Cologne-Ehrenfeld.

The Kaufland customer documented her find with seven photos in two Facebook groups.

“Tastes like rancid coconut oil”: Vegan Babybel at Kaufland doesn’t just cause euphoria

In the group “I found something VEGAN in the supermarket” there are more than 400 “likes” for this.

People also report on the vegan Babybel find in other posts and groups - a Siegerland woman who would otherwise come up empty-handed when looking for such items enthuses: "It's hard to believe, today I found the vegan Babybel in our Kaufland." Euphoria is somewhat reminiscent of that of a Lidl customer who has identified a favorite treat and stocked up on it.

Babybel is probably not only launching the vegan version at Kaufland, it is officially listed on the homepage, but the supermarket chain seems to be particularly early on it.

The vegan Babybel happiness could be perfect if there weren't several catches.

Because not everyone shares the taste delight of the above vegan.

“Found at Kaufland.

“At times it reminds me of biting into a piece of margarine, but it’s actually quite ok for a snack,” is a cautious reaction.

Some are pretty damning: “It tastes nothing like the original.

“It tastes like rancid coconut oil,” they say.

Others think: “They taste really terrible.

“Even my ‘eater’ doesn’t want to finish the pack” or “I don’t like them at all”.

And this post alone shows how widely opinions differ: “I think it’s really tasty, but my girlfriend finds it disgusting.”

The vegan Babybel and the verdict of a test eater even caused ridicule on Facebook.

Vegan Babybel: The price at Kaufland also puts some people off

One of the posts above even became a screenshot and got a laugh in a Facebook group for bizarre online finds.

The fact that not everyone likes the vegan Babybel is not the only problem.

Because while Burger King now offers plant-based products particularly cheaply, the cheese alternative costs a lot of money.

“Five pieces for 2.99 euros?

Is that right?” asks a Facebook user in view of the shelf photos above.

“Yes, unfortunately,” was the answer.

Maybe the supposed euphoria product isn't so great after all - depending on your taste.

With the words “Why people make fun of city dwellers in the country,” another Kaufland customer was surprised at a 10-euro discovery in a branch.
