If singer Axel Bauer invited people to turn off the lights in his hit from the early 1990s, it seems that the trend is the opposite today in several cities.
This is particularly the case of Sannois, in Val-d'Oise.
Like twelve of its neighbors in the Val Parisis urban community, the municipality committed in June 2022 to turning off public lighting in the middle of the night, from 1:15 a.m. to 4:45 a.m., to limit energy consumption and to preserve the environment.
She has now decided to go back, after changing all of her old bulbs for LEDs.
“The first objective was to reduce the cost,” explains the mayor (DVD), Bernard Jamet.
With the switch to LED, we have reduced the bill by two thirds while all the streets are lit all night.
