Article 1 of the Constitution tells us that "Italy is one, not a sum of republics nor a federation of republics" and confirms in fact that the Constitution is extremely young because it was made with so much wisdom"

. For this reason proved capable of effectively adapting to new and unforeseeable situations in those times. Constitutional law lesson from the President of the Republic in an exceptional "format" at the Quirinale: between jokes and smiles

Sergio Mattarella

spoke about the Constitution and its surroundings with a group of young creators gathered in the "Music room" in an unfiltered dialogue that ranged from digital to rights, up to some personal observations.

Sergio Mattarella wanted to bring the world of creators and influencers (the difference between these two social categories is subtle) into the splendid rooms of the Quirinale through a live YouTube broadcast which allowed the kids to talk about the various articles of the Charter with "shorts" by 60 seconds.

It was enough to see who the host of the dialogue was, Fabio Rovazzi (a little excited) to understand how unscrupulous and certainly innovative the hybridization experiment between the first of the institutions and the world of social media was.

But the contents are very serious and the discussion between the president and the young people touched on very delicate topics: from reforms to rights, from freedom of information to abstentionism.

The Head of State immediately starts out strong and thus explains what the objective of this unprecedented meeting at Colle was: "some time ago I said that the Constitution is like the toolbox of democracy" but today we can talk about "a treasure chest that protects the our rights and our freedoms".

A treasure chest, a word that tells of precious objects to be guarded with caution.

For this reason he addresses the younger ones trying to make them understand the risks that could exist in dealing with such a precious object with clumsy hands: "rights are like a bit in nature, they must be cultivated to prevent them from withering. We cannot allow it to wither democracy", he gently underlines.

So he returns to the Constitution, stating that it is "a matter for young people rather than old people".

It is because, he highlights, "the Constitution is extremely young, and was made with such wisdom as to have rules that adapt to even unpredictable conditions.

There are conditions created over the decades, which were not foreseeable at the time, but those rules have an elasticity and ductility that also refers to different cases". Certainly the president does not even touch on the very hot topic of the reforms which are now underway in the parliamentary process , but it is inevitable for reporters to try to find connections with the premiership and autonomy. Certainly popular sovereignty is still exercised through the vote and the head of state certifies this by not hiding his concern for abstentionism: "I hope it comes back to increase voter participation in elections.

That, more than any other, is the moment in which the citizen becomes the protagonist and exercises sovereignty". With such an unusual parterre for the halls of the Quirinale, lightening and jokes could not be missing: as when Rovazzi introduces the dialogue by quoting Spiderman and is it almost seemed like seeing him climbing the golden mirrors of the building. Or when Mattarella confesses to being "a little excited" to talk to such young interlocutors. To the point of trying to identify with the role of the creator. If I were, I would talk about social justice: I would ask myself and I would ask "because there are children and young people who live well, have many opportunities and others, in other parts of the world, who struggle to survive".

Here are the creators who will converse with President Mattarella: Marcello Ascani, Lorenzo Baglioni, Virginia Benzi (Quantum girl), Giuseppe Bertuccio D'Angelo (Progetto Happiness), Elia Bombardelli, Loretta Grace (Grace on your dash), the Heimi (Gianluca David Baroni, Alice Caimi, Camilla Caimi, Francesca Pivari, Pietro Pettenghi), Giulia Lamarca, Lokman, Pietro Michelangeli, Olimpia Peroni (Fanpage.it), Eleonora Tani (The Lady).
