The affair had caused a lot of ink to flow.
At the beginning of March, the passenger of a TGV Inouï was fined 270 euros for having exchanged his second class seat with another traveler, holder of a first class ticket.
Convinced of his good faith, the 25-year-old traveler, holder of an SNCF subscription, made a virulent rant on social networks.
He ended up getting his fine refunded and an apology from the railway company.
According to
Le Parisien
, this
“excessive zeal”
of the crew chiefs owes nothing to chance: the SNCF controllers, like those of the RATP, would receive profit-sharing, even bonuses on the fines paid by users.
Still according to the daily newspaper, these systems
would “encourage”
agents to verbalize at all costs, even if it sometimes means lacking discernment.
