The European Commission has launched a new infringement procedure against Italy for failure to comply with air quality obligations, highlighting the failure to comply with the ruling of the EU Court of Justice issued in 2020. Brussels denounces that in 2022 in Italy "twenty-four air quality zones "air" had "daily limit values" of pollution concentration higher than permitted and one area exceeded the annual limits.
Italy now has two months to respond and "fill the gaps".
