A wreath as a symbol of eternal love for cheese.
The Easter wreath is one of many typical baked goods around the Easter holidays.
The round wreath shape has religious origins and is, among other things, a symbol of eternal life.
The classic Easter wreath consists of a fluffy and sweet yeast dough.
We give the classic a remake and bake it from buttery croissant dough and fill it to the brim with a hearty cheese filling.
Hearty Easter wreath + round symbol = eternal cheese love.
That's how it's done:
These ingredients are needed for the Easter wreath made from croissant dough:
Cheese filling:
200 g Emmental cheese, grated
100 g red pepper, diced
30 g spring onion, cut into rings
1 egg yolk
0.5 tsp salt
0.5 tsp pepper
2 tsp crème fraîche
Aside from that:
1 pack (6 croissants each) of fresh croissant dough on the cooling rack
1 egg yolk
Herb quark (as desired)
There is plenty of cheese hidden inside the Easter wreath. You can find the recipe for the hearty Easter wreath here.

Preparation is so easy:
Preheat oven to 180 °C top/bottom heat.
For the filling:
Mix the Emmental cheese, peppers, spring onions, 1 egg yolk, salt, pepper and crème fraîche well.
Remove the croissant dough from the packaging, unroll it and carefully separate out individual croissant triangles.
Place the croissants in a sun shape on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
Make sure that the wide ends overlap slightly.
Spread the cheese filling all around the dough.
Leave an approx. 1 cm wide edge towards the middle.
Wrap croissant tips around the cheese filling and press lightly.
Brush the dough with beaten egg yolk.
Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown.
Allow to cool slightly and serve with herb quark.
Relish!
