Within the framework of the wave of drug violence that is going through the city of Rosario, the Minister of Justice,
Mariano Cúneo Libarona
, launched a decalogue of advertisements to combat these crimes.
The battery of proposals includes an initiative to
reform the Penal Code.
Through a statement, the minister said that given Javier Milei's "firm decision" to eradicate drug trafficking, the ministry he leads will carry out "concrete actions with the aim of collaborating in the resolution of this problem."
"The National Government is
determined to confront the drug trafficking mafia
. With these measures we will strike a blow to its heart," said Cúneo Libarona.
As the main measure, the ministry announced that it will launch
a drafting commission in charge of preparing the proposal to reform the Penal Code
.
It should provide, he indicated, for "new punishable conduct and increased penalties for drug trafficking, organized crime and associated crimes."
On the other hand, it will implement the
adversarial system,
which will imply criminal prosecution for organized crime and "especially" drug trafficking.
This system also seeks to provide "maximum support to judges and prosecutors so that they can carry out their investigations and that drug trafficking cases are quickly brought to trial."
From the judicial portfolio, he in turn urged that the Public Prosecutor's Office take charge
of “more complex investigations, with its recognized effort.”
Meanwhile, the National Judicial Council will be asked
to accelerate the competitions for pending vacancies for judges
and prosecutors in Santa Fe, as well as those in the rest of the country;
and the urgent appointment of suitable judges.
They will send to Congress a project of domain forfeiture
On the other hand, Cúneo Libarona promised to send to Congress a project on the
seizure of assets from drug trafficking and forfeiture of ownership
.
Along the same lines, he said that they will accelerate the processes of confiscation and auction of assets from this type of crimes.
In addition, they will strengthen the delegation of the Financial Information Unit (UIF) located in Rosario and will send new support agents to verify and seize illicit assets.
Finally, the ministry promised to create a physical work space where federal and provincial justice and investigation and security agencies come together and work in coordination.
