An owl as a pet – a dream for many: Bianca Wiese lives it and shares her home with four dogs and a burrowing owl.

But there are requirements.

Bianca Wiese keeps an unusual pet in her old apartment in Solingen (NRW).

In addition to four dogs and a chameleon, she shares her life with a 3-year-old burrowing owl.

Karma listens to every word, has a weakness for car racing, loves day-old chicks and mealworms and can be quite loud.

How does a woman get a burrowing owl (belonging to the owl family of the little owl genus) as a pet?

Karma (short form of Karmelita) has led fate to the dog trainer.

On her Instagram account @lieblingsfelle

she

reveals the background and shares her everyday life with her around 70,000 followers.

Karma came to her through a falconer friend.

A woman over 98 years old also thinks that a visit from an owl is karma.

Normally wild animals live in forests.

For health reasons, the bird was raised by hand and grew up in the falconer's house with children and dogs for around six months.

The attempt to socialize the young owl with other animals failed several times.

In an interview with

RTL

West, Bianca reveals that Karma simply can't stand her kind and has attacked them several times.

A single aviary was also out of the question because she didn't feel comfortable there and made so much noise that the neighbors complained.

“Wrathful Beauty,” as Bianca affectionately calls her, had to go back into the house.

A video of an owl stealing a broom from a neighbor's garden shows that owls can also be quite playful.

The anatomy of an owl's ear is also incredibly interesting.

Bianca takes care of the owl, which lives on the ground in the grassy steppes of North and South America, and has since regularly posted impressive videos on Instagram.

The two are now a real dream team.

Karma is so used to people that they also sit together in front of the television.

She developed a passion for racing.

As soon as a car race flickers on the screen, she would like to chase the cars.

However, she is afraid of beetles and small animals and runs away from them.

During the day she likes to nap on the radiator.

As a rule, keeping them is usually only reserved for animal parks or zoos - detailed knowledge and training about the wild animals is absolutely necessary.

Very high requirements from the veterinary office and the nature conservation authority must also be met and the animals may only be kept with a special permit.

That's why the animal trainer advises against keeping an owl in your home.

But Karma clearly feels comfortable with her - she would have almost no chance outside.

The dog trainer reacts even more disappointedly to ignorant comments.

After all, the authorities regularly make sure that Karma is doing well - even without notice.

And so she says: “That's why all the pseudo-do-gooders who want to tell me about 'the bird belongs in the wild' can slide right down my throat.”

The followers seem to agree with her.

And the main thing is that Karma feels completely at home.
