   Like the tide."

It is multiple myeloma, a blood cancer that develops in the bone marrow and which often, after a period of therapy and remission, recurs.

Taking inspiration from the repercussions that characterize this pathology, PfizerItalia, in collaboration with the Italian Association against Leukemia, Lymphoma and Myeloma (Ail) launches ''Mmarea.

- Multiple Myeloma.

Onda After Onda", the new campaign on multiple myeloma which aims to provide patients with concrete support to face and manage all phases of the disease, starting from the diagnosis. The heart of the campaign is an illustrated story, created by Manuela Adreani, which narrates the story of a fisherman who faces the tides and the challenges they bring day after day, just as patients with Multiple Myeloma face the phases and difficulties of the disease day after day. The narrative is divided into 5 chapters which metaphorically describe 5 relevant topics: the diagnosis, therapies, relapse, remission and awareness. In each chapter, the feelings that patients experience during the course of the disease are investigated, describing the fear, tiredness, bewilderment; but also the strength, courage and resilience which, precisely like the protagonist, they manage to find inside themselves every day. From this illustrated storytelling a series of podcasts was also born, with the narrating voice of LucaZingaretti, and an information mini-site www.mmarea.it, created in collaboration with a pool of Hematology specialists , which aims to become the qualified and up-to-date reference point on the pathology for patients and caregivers.

"Patients who have to face a flare-up of a disease such as multiple myeloma find themselves having to deal with an experience of pain that not only overwhelms them from a physical point of view, but also from an emotional and psychological point of view - specifies William Arcese, President of the Committee ScientificoAil - Suddenly, in fact, these people are hit by fears and worries regarding their daily lives, family relationships, work, the social sphere. The psychological well-being of the patient and of those who assist him/her is fundamental to guarantee correct adherence to treatment and to ensure that the sense of loneliness and isolation that often affects patients and caregivers can be overcome".
