The US has finalized a draft United Nations Security Council resolution on the war between Israel and Hamas, usually the final step before calling for a vote on text that would support international efforts to broker an immediate ceasefire as part of a hostage release agreement.
Reuters writes it on its website.
The final draft "unequivocally supports international diplomatic efforts to establish an immediate and lasting ceasefire as part of an agreement that releases the hostages and lays the foundation for a more lasting peace to alleviate humanitarian suffering."
It is not yet clear when or if the United States will ask the 15-member Council to vote on the text negotiated last month.
To pass, a resolution needs at least nine votes and no vetoes from the United States, France, Great Britain, Russia or China.
The United States could still make further changes to the draft.
