Faced with the spread of crime in the city of Rosario, the Argentine government has introduced measures that provide for a relaxation of the rules of engagement of the federal security forces, allowing greater license in the legitimate use of firearms.
The measure effectively offers greater margins of discretion to officers in their reaction to what they consider to be an "imminent danger", but also in the event of resistance or escape.
"Weapons can be used in situations in which the use of other instruments is impossible, maintaining the concept of progressiveness", specified the Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, illustrating the initiative, which partially restores a protocol introduced in 2018 (by the government Macri of whom he was a member) and suspended by the Fernandez executive.
Then speaking about the crisis in Rosario, Bullrich confirmed that violence against the authorities will be considered "terrorism".
"Rosario is one of our priorities in terms of security - said Bullrich -. The whole country has witnessed the terrible events of the last few days. If we do not put an urgent stop, the violence will increase".
