American actress and model Olivia Munn, 43, revealed Wednesday that she underwent a double mastectomy last year after being diagnosed with an “aggressive and fast-progressing” form of breast cancer.
On her Instagram account, after appearing on Sunday at the Oscars in Hollywood with her companion - American comedian John Mulaney - Olivia Munn wrote: "I hope that by sharing this, it will help others find comfort, inspiration and support for their own journey” with this disease.

Despite this result, her gynecologist preferred two months later to have her undergo a statistical assessment on her risks of contracting breast cancer taking into account her family history, or the age at which she had her child.
The result showing a probability of 37%, Olivia Munn then underwent an MRI, an ultrasound and a biopsy which
“revealed luminal B cancer in both breasts” , an
“aggressive and rapidly progressing”
form of cancer

“Thirty days after this biopsy, I had a double mastectomy, going from a state where I felt perfectly well to that of waking up in a hospital bed after ten hours of operation
,” says the actress in posting photos of herself in the hospital, also explaining that she had undergone four operations in total.
In May 2013, American superstar Angelina Jolie made global headlines by also revealing that she had undergone a double mastectomy.
