This year, Camille Cottin will be the mistress of the opening and closing ceremonies of the Cannes Film Festival.
The 45-year-old actress will present the two evenings, which will take place at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes on May 14 and 25.
It is therefore she who, on stage, will welcome the jury of this 77th edition, chaired this year by the American actress, screenwriter and director Greta Gerwig who signed “Barbie”.
Twelve days later, Camille Cottin will be at the helm of the winners' reveal evening.
Like last year, the two opening and closing evenings will be orchestrated by director and producer Renaud Le Van Kim, historic producer of “Grand Journal” and broadcast live on France 2, which replaced Canal + as official broadcaster in 2022.
Great notoriety in France
Revealed by the humorous pastille “Connasse”, hidden camera sketches broadcast from 2013 on Canal + in “Le Before” then in “Le Grand Journal”, Camille Cottin saw her notoriety rise in 2015 with the series “Dix pour cent » (France 2), in which she played the formidable agent Andrea Martel.
Since 2015, she has appeared in more than twenty films, including the comedies “Cigarettes and Hot Chocolate”, “Le Mystère Henri Pick”, “Les Éblouis” and “Toni en famille”.
On April 3, she will be appearing in “A few days no more” by Julie Navarro, where she plays, opposite Benjamin Biolay, a former lawyer who became an activist for an association helping migrants.
She also toured abroad
Camille Cottin also acted in English, for the American-British series “Killing Eve”, for the films “Stillwater” by Thomas McCarthy or “House of Gucci” by Ridley Scott… and for a Nespresso ad.
Since 2022, she has been in advertising spots for the coffee brand alongside George Clooney and Jean Dujardin.
Mistress of ceremonies at the Cannes Film Festival is not just an honorary role.
The one-night presenter is very visible to viewers.
Last year, 3.16 million people watched the reveal of the winners live and in prime time on France 2 (i.e. 20% of the public).
The opening was followed, between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., by 1.99 million moviegoers (12.6% market share).
