Telekom has not planned a price reduction.

But customers are still saving money at the moment.

Because the company doesn't charge enough money to users.

Bonn – Fixed-line customers of Deutsche Telekom, which recently changed its streaming offering, have every reason to be happy.

The telecommunications company has not been debiting enough money from them for some time now: millions of customers are paying a cent less than contractually agreed.

This means that anyone who would actually have to pay a basic price of 34.99 euros per month only pays 34.98 euros instead.

Telekom bill confuses customers: company doesn't charge enough - and explains the reason

This seemed so unusual to one customer that he even asked about the supposed error in the Telekom community forum: “I've been a MagentaZuhause XL customer for two months and I'm very happy with the connection.

However, after a quick look at my online bill, I see that instead of 25.90 euros, I am 'only' being charged 25.89 euros every month." He asks himself: "Is my math rusty or can someone enlighten me?"

But according to Telekom, this is not an error.

The reason for the deviation is VAT, a spokesman explains.

“Since the landline invoice is based on net prices, sales tax is only calculated at the end.

So that certain rounding amounts are not calculated to the detriment of the customer, 1 cent less is used,” explains Telekom press spokesman Dirk Wende to

No changes to Telekom mobile phone bills

However, Telekom's mobile phone customers are unlikely to experience similar confusion in the near future.

According to Wende, mobile phone bills for private customers are calculated on the basis of gross amounts.

Therefore, these are calculated exactly to the cent.

According to its own information, Telekom wants to make “Fiber to the Home” (FTTH) available to 7.9 million households in 2024.

2.5 million more than the year before.

According to the company, demand for it is growing rapidly.
