Novak Djokovic will not participate in the Miami tournament, a Master 1000 starting on March 20: the Serbian press is certain of this, as they await the official announcement of the world number 1 or the US tournament, reporting the indiscretion of 'Sport Klub'.
"After a twenty-year career, I have earned the right not to play all the tournaments, but to select: and my goal for 2024 is to find a balance with my family and bet everything on the Slam tournaments and especially on the Olympics. I can't wait to represent Serbia in Paris", Djoko actually said in an interview with Jeffrey Katzenberg, co-founder of Dreamworks, broadcast by YouTube and relaunched in these hours by the Serbian's Instagram profile.
In the long chat, Djokovic does not reveal whether or not he will go to Miami.
But after the Indian Wells defeat to Nardi he told a press conference that he was ready to reflect on Miami, where among other things he had not participated last year and where therefore he could gain ATP points, not lose them.
But, the Serbian media are now underlining, faced with a form that was not up to par, Dikovic would have preferred to dedicate himself to red clay, a more suitable surface at the moment, aiming for Paris with possible stops in Monte Carlo and Rome.
"I want to continue playing for 25 years - Djokovic's hyperbole - and I would like my head to stop, not my body: people don't know that tennis is the sport with the longest season of all, from January to November, and when I play I play to win. This is why I have to balance my tennis career with my family life, I don't want to miss my son's first tooth and now it's hard for me to stay away for a month in Australia. But my psychologist taught me - he concluded Djokovic - that in life you must always have an objective: this brings you clarity, and clarity means discipline. The key word is perseverance and resilience. I no longer play all the tournaments, I aim for the most important events: Slams and Games".
