US Vice President Kamala Harris will make history today with a visit to a Planned Parenthood clinic in Minnesota - a non-profit organization for sexual and reproductive health - where abortions are also performed.
According to US media, it is the first time that a president or vice president has visited a pregnancy termination clinic and the move is intended to show the importance that Joe Biden's campaign attaches to reproductive rights in the presidential race.
In 2013, Barack Obama became the first sitting president to speak about Planned Parenthood, but he did so from a Washington hotel.
The exact clinic Harris plans to visit is unclear, and his office will provide more guidance later, given the high likelihood of protests.
The visit from Biden's number two comes as reproductive freedoms across the country face uncertain times after the Supreme Court in 2022 overturned Roe v.
Wadeche protected abortion as a constitutional right.
The Biden-Harris campaign has sought in recent weeks to put protecting abortion rights and reproductive freedom at the top of its priority list as it prepares for a rematch against Donald Trump in November.
