At least 60 migrants died on a dinghy that left Libya and headed for Italy.
This is what the 25 survivors told the crew of the Ocean Viking, the SOS Mediterranee ship, which yesterday rescued them in the central Mediterranean.
"The survivors left Zawiya, Libya, 7 days before being rescued - writes the NGO in a tweet - The engine broke down after 3 days, leaving the boat adrift without water and food. The survivors say that at least 60 People died on the journey, including women and at least one child."
Two of the 25 survivors rescued by the Ocean Viking were evacuated by the Italian Coast Guard during the night and transported to hospital in Sicily: the two, according to SOS Mediterranee, fainted on board the ship and the medical staff on board were unable to to revive them.
This triggered the medical evacuation procedure by the Coast Guard.
