The Constitutional Affairs Commission of the Senate has approved an amendment by Marcello Pera to the Prime Ministership which modifies an article of the Constitution regarding the political non-responsibility of the President of the Republic.
The current article 89 of the Constitution establishes that "no act of the President of the Republic is valid if it is not countersigned by the proposing ministers, who assume responsibility for it";
the amendment excludes the countersignature of the government for some presidential documents.
