This Thursday, the socialist group in the Senate requested the creation of a parliamentary commission of inquiry into sexual and gender-based violence in cinema, giving substance to the request of actress Judith Godrèche.
She reiterated this request Thursday in the National Assembly.
In a letter addressed to the President of the Senate Gérard Larcher, consulted by AFP, the president of the group Patrick Kanner requests the creation, "urgently", of a commission of inquiry on this subject, also encompassing the areas of live performance and media.

“This work will make it possible to propose ways and means to fight against sexual and gender-based violence, to put an end to a destructive system, in particular for women and child artists, and to better protect and support them,” writes the head of socialist line.
“There must be a whole system of protection put in place and we must stop pretending not to know,” actress Judith Godrèche, a leading figure in the struggle, urged the senators on February 29. against sexual violence against children.
After filing a complaint against the filmmakers Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon for facts dating back to her adolescence, Judith Godrèche requested the creation of such a commission of inquiry at the end of February during a Senate hearing.
“His questioning and the recent proliferation of cases, in the artistic world in its diversity (cinema, live performance, creation) and in the media world, engage us,” continues Patrick Kanner in his letter.
A commission can be formed in a transpartisan manner
Each parliamentary group can launch, on its own initiative, a commission of inquiry per year, but all groups have currently exhausted this “drawing right” in the Senate.
A commission of inquiry can nevertheless be set up in a transpartisan manner if the Conference of Presidents of the Senate decides to include the request on the agenda of the upper house.
