She is 20 years old, successfully attending the last year of the Marconi professional institute in Prato for advertising graphics, has taken contemporary dance and swimming courses, is passionate about music and loves American TV series and like many of her peers posts her selfies on Instagram and TikTok.

But

Alice Gennaro

is also the first voice actress with Down syndrome in Italy: she is the voice of the protagonist of the Spanish film

"Valentina",

winner of the Goya award for best animated film in 2022 and whose protagonist has Down syndrome .

On the occasion of World Down Syndrome Day, which occurs on March 21st, the film arrives in Italy and the adaptation was made thanks to the collaboration with the Italian Down Syndrome Association, of which Alice is a member in the Prato office.

"It was fantastic to give voice to Valentina because Valentina is nice and joyful. Sometimes it was difficult, but I managed" explains Alice.

Confirmation also comes from his mother, Simona Becheri, 51 years old: "For a week he worked in Rome in the dubbing room: he worked three-hour shifts in the morning and in the afternoon he had to relax because he had given so much. But to me and his father he literally threw us out of the room because he didn't want us."

The protagonist of the film is a little girl who dreams of being a trapeze artist but is afraid of not succeeding because she is aware of being different.

In the end she will be able to make her dream come true thanks to her strong relationship with her family and her determination.

And Alice too has many dreams: "To be a star, a singer, or a photo model for luxury brands. Now I have discovered - she explains - that I also like doing dubbing".

And the minister for disabilities Alessandra Locatelli also spoke about the twenty-year-old in a post

:

"Congratulations to Alice and all those who made this film a success!".

On Monday 18 March the film will be previewed at the Casa del Cinema in Rome: "But we won't be there, my daughters and I - says the mother - have been planning a trip to Paris for a long time. We are lovers of the Lupine series and we will go to see the places where it was filmed."

Alice is a girl full of life and "has a great desire - explains her mother - to be with her peers. She is lazy but if there is a need to expose herself in a costume she is the first. She is a fan of Jennifer Lopez and Ariana, loves divas and everything that is super fashionable and we don't know how to address this slightly frivolous nature of hers given that she wants to be a top model. She has learned many things by imitation, but I don't deny that - her mother continues - we I have problems getting accepted. She would like to have a boyfriend and one day become the mother of two daughters. She has already decided on the names, Meg and Anna. She often asks me why no boy invites her to dinner or to dance. She is in a delicate phase. and she has to try to accept her syndrome, after all hers is a transitional age. She is a little envious of her sister, Gemma, 24 years old, precisely because she has a boyfriend and she doesn't. My husband and I have been separated for 13 years and she has often tried to get us back together."

Alice, however, knows well what she wants.

"When I tell her that she has to cover herself, not post too many things on social media and be careful with boys, she always tells me: 'Mom, trust me'.
