Many food prices have risen in recent months and years.
The price increases did not stop at ice cream sellers either.
Linz – In recent years, many ice cream lovers have been surprised at the prices for a scoop of the sweet dessert.
An ice cream seller now complained about the increased prices - but he too has to become more expensive.
Ice cream seller has to significantly increase the price for a scoop of ice cream
Many people still remember times when a scoop of ice cream only cost a few pfennigs.
After the introduction of the euro, customers in many places had to pay almost 50 cents for it.
These prices have been history for a long time.
In large cities in particular, prices even rose to two euros or more in 2024.
The nationwide average was 1.46 euros in 2021, and three years later this is likely to have increased significantly.
The scoop of ice cream is still one of the most popular desserts for many people - but prices will continue to rise in 2024.

A boss of a well-known ice cream parlor in Linz now explained to

why he has to raise his prices significantly from this year.
“Rent, staff, raw materials have risen, so we are forced to increase our prices too,” said Toni Salija.
As the Linzer said, the prices for all ice cream accessories have risen, including spoons, bags, cups and packaging.
In the future, a scoop of ice cream will cost him 2.20 instead of two euros.
Prices for scoops of ice cream are rising – the ice cream association defends itself against criticism
The scoops of ice cream are only available cheaper in outer districts; in the big cities of Linz and Vienna they are similarly expensive in many ice cream parlors.
Toni Salija doesn't want to increase the prices any further this summer: “We won't increase our prices during the season anymore.
We can't go up all the time.
3 euros is excessive, it is no longer affordable for a family with two or three children.” In Germany, a similar picture emerges in large cities as in Austria.
Many consumers have already complained about the high prices for a scoop of ice cream.
However, the ice cream association resisted this because nothing could be done about inflation and the rise in prices for many products such as milk and cream.
“In Germany you pay the least for an ice cream scoop in all of Europe,” said Annalisa Carnio, secretary general of the Uniteis association.
As she goes on to say, the sizes of the balls have also increased in parallel with the higher prices.
