Mortgage rates are starting to fall after the strong run of recent months, while those on consumer credit will remain high and above the European average.
This is what emerges from the analysis conducted by the Fiba Foundation of First Cisl on ECB data on the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day.
Also in 2024 the rates are confirmed to be higher than the European average: buying in installments in our country "costs" 10.75%, compared to an average which in the eurozone stands at 8.72%.
The APR (annual effective rate paid by consumers) in Italy is significantly higher than that of other large continental economies: in France it is 6.58%, in Germany it is 8.73%.
Compared to the end of 2023, an increase was recorded everywhere in January, which however was greater in Italy, where the APR rose by more than half a point in a single month (from 10.16% in December to 10.75%), much more than the modest increases recorded in France and Germany
