In January 2024, Istat estimates, on an annual basis, a slight decline in exports in value: -0.2%; while it was -7.8% in December. In volume it is reduced by 1.8%. (HANDLE)

The slight decline in exports in monetary terms concerns only non-EU markets (-0.4%), while exports to EU markets are stationary.


    Imports recorded a decline on an annual basis of 13.5% in value, the synthesis of a larger contraction for the non-EU area (-19.3%) compared to the EU one (-8.7%), and of 5 .2% by volume.


    On a monthly basis, Istat estimates a reduction for both foreign trade flows, more intense for imports (-7.3%) than for exports (-3.2%).

The cyclical decline in exports is larger for non-EU markets (-4.0%) compared to the EU area (-2.4%).
