Munich – Eating a delicious pizza and saving money?
A dream for every hungry lover of Italian cuisine.
But the situation is not always as stress-free as one would like, and ultimately entrepreneurial laissez-faire meets German accuracy.
This is what happened to a Reddit user who suddenly had to deal with many factors: a Pizza Diavolo, handwritten scribbles, a peppered complaint email with a demand for repayment.
And at the end there is the question: “Am I the Alman?”
“Am I the Alman?”: Reddit users rate situations with German cliché behavior
Because the reflective German is well aware that some Prussian virtues occasionally take over.
In the birthplace of the neighborhood and hedgerow dispute, the term “Alman” has become established for such a person, especially among the younger generations.
The Turkish word for “German” was originally used by migrants – sometimes more, sometimes less kindly – for the human prime examples of German clichés.
Because a user documented how they felt misled by a promotion, they were able to obtain compensation.

Nowadays, Germans who ask themselves whether they have perhaps insisted on the rules a little too much in one situation or another no longer do so at the regulars' table in the corner bar, but rather on the Internet.
Re-weighed the kebab at home?
Reported the driver who parked too close to the office?
Reddit has the “r/binichderalman” community, where users can ask other members to assess certain situations.
Answer options: “BDA” (“You are the Alman”) and NDA (“Not the Alman”).
Customer pays for pizza because of handwritten note on it – “Crime of unlawful advertising”
Like user “Beiyangsz”, who, lured by a promotion that promised him a pizza for 7.50 euros, suddenly had to pay extra after eating it.
The employee at the checkout suddenly demanded 12.90 euros from him because: It was handwritten on the advertising poster that the offer was only valid from Monday to Thursday.
Beiyangsz's problem: It was Friday.
The user pays, goes home and hits the keys: In an eloquent email to the restaurant chain, he explains the situation in detail, attaches "photographs" of the poster, throws in words like "small handwritten scribble", "entrepreneurial Care”, “intentionality” and “crime of unlawful advertising” along with paragraphs - and demands the difference of 5.40 euros back from the pizza maker.

Section 16, Paragraph 1 of the UWG states: Anyone who misleadingly advertises with untrue information in public announcements or in communications intended for a larger group of people with the intention of creating the appearance of a particularly favorable offer will be punished with a prison sentence of up to two years or a fine.

The Reddit community is pretty much in agreement, but debates how necessary the curmudgeon was.
“It’s the Alman, but rightly so,” replies one user.
Another commentator also wants to differentiate: “NDA for demanding the money back […], but BDA for picking out the paragraphs.
Only a full-blooded Alman would do that.”
The opinion seems to have a majority.
“BDA, but I don’t think it’s tragic,” says one, “BDA, but saved 5.40 euros,” another and “BDA, but definitely appropriate here,” adds a third.
A popular comment perhaps sums it up: "You're the Alman, already for 'Lichtbild', Diggi."
Happy ending in the pizzeria: The company gives in and invites people – next visit with Lupe?
The nice thing: There is a happy ending at the end.
User Beiyangsz also adds the company's response to the post.
There they not only sincerely apologize and promise to change the posters, but also announce that the 5.40 euros will be transferred immediately.
Finally, you even invite the angry customer to enjoy a free drink with the next pizza.
Then the pizza lover could even be a bit more meticulous if necessary.
After studying the advertising poster, a user points out: “This only applies to pizzas with a diameter of 32 centimeters.
If necessary, a good Alman takes a magnifying glass with him to capture everything.”
