In the Constitution there is "a solemn statement: the repudiation of war as an instrument of offense against the freedom of other peoples and as a means of resolving international disputes. These are the few words of article 11 which contains the reasons, the premises of the role and positions of our Country in the international community: building bridges of dialogue, collaboration with other nations, respecting each people".
The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, said this while speaking in Cassino at the commemorative ceremony of the eightieth anniversary of the destruction of the city.
