The Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne has rejected the appeal lodged by Alex Schwazer against the rejection of his request for suspension of the eight-year ban imposed on him for violating anti-doping rules.
The walker contested the decision taken by the Athletic Integrity Unit (AIU) of the World Athletics Federation last November 10 to reject his request to suspend the eight-year disqualification period, starting from August 11, 2016. imposed on him for his second doping offence.
Therefore, the Tas informs, the imposed disqualification period remains in force.

"We have noted with bitterness the decision of the CAS which rejected Alex Schwazer's appeal aimed at obtaining a discount on the disqualification sanctioned at the time. We are convinced that Alex Schwazer is entitled to the discount requested for the collaboration provided within the framework of the regulations anti-doping measures in force".
Thus the marcher's lawyers in a statement to ANSA.
"We reserve the right to examine the reasons in question as soon as they become known to evaluate any new further judicial initiatives. We remain confident that in the end he will be granted this legitimate and deserved opportunity!", they add.
