At the beginning of March there was a major recall at Rewe, which affected frozen spinach from its own brand “Beste Wahl”.
Now manufacturer Ardo had to expand the recall.
Update from Thursday, March 14th, 9:43 p.m.:
Ratingen – The frozen food manufacturer Ardo has expanded its nationwide recall for frozen spinach.
A corresponding statement states that it cannot be ruled out that there are metal shavings in the vegetables.
The product recall from March 1st will therefore be expanded, the company announced on Thursday in Ratingen.
We strongly advise against consuming spinach as a health risk cannot be ruled out with certainty.
In addition, the following products are now also being recalled:
Rewe Best Choice Young Spinach Chopped 450 grams with the best before date 12/2025
Edeka young spinach chopped 450 g, frozen, best before date 12/2025
Netto Marken-Discount Best Harvest Young Spinach chopped 450 g, frozen with the best before dates 12/2025 and 01/2026
The affected federal states were also expanded.

The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety is now publishing a new product recall on its platform lebensmittelwarning.de.
Recall of “Rewe Junger Spinach” from the own brand “Beste Wahl”
A frozen spinach from Adlo GmbH that is available to buy from Rewe is being recalled: “Rewe Best Choice, Young Spinach Chopped, 450 g”.
This affects items with the EAN number 4337256051699 and a best before date of January 2026. It cannot be ruled out that the product contains thin metal shavings in individual packaging.
Therefore, a health risk cannot be ruled out with complete certainty.

Check batch numbers - the purchase price will be refunded
Please pay attention to production batches 144003 and 144004. Other batch numbers are not affected.
Customers can return the recalled product to the respective store and receive a refund of the purchase price, even without presenting the receipt.
