On Wednesday 20 March we will officially enter the new season: a spring that is currently expected to be warmer than normal and with some more rain.
For Mattia Gussoni, meteorologist at www.iLMeteo.it, the winter of 2023-2024 was "anomalous".
Since February 20th snow has arrived in the Alps as it hasn't happened for decades.
There were no record snowfalls associated with sudden icy outbreaks.
In the meantime, however, after 3 weekends marred by bad weather, this weekend will be mostly sunny and mild, except for quick showers towards the centre-south.
Over the next few hours, isolated showers are expected, especially in Friuli Venezia Giulia and between Tuscany, Romagna and Marche;
subsequently some sudden showers, but always of a local nature, will hit the rest of the central regions, Campania, Basilicata and Puglia in a patchy pattern.
Only from the evening will there be rain also in Calabria while sunny spells will increasingly take hold in the centre-north.
A fast unstable passage, therefore, linked to low pressure centered on Denmark.
The effects of this depression will only be felt on Saturday, but on Sunday 17 March there will be sunshine almost everywhere: in the south we will have some residual phenomena, until lunchtime, in Salento, Calabria and locally in Sicily.
For the rest, sunshine with temperatures up to 21°C in Agrigento and Benevento, 20 degrees also in Forlì, Caserta, Syracuse and Terni, 19°C in Bologna, Bolzano, Ferrara, Mantua and Modena to mention also cities in the Po Valley.
The new week will still be characterized by dry weather except for frequent cloudy passages: the skies will not always be blue, but the disturbances will be far away.

In the south: irregular clouds with residual rainfall on the Tyrrhenian Calabria.

In the north: at times cloudy, rain in the Triveneto.
In the center: unstable on the Adriatic.
In the south: unstable over Puglia, many clouds elsewhere.
