On average, the ADAC 2023 was in action every nine seconds.

The “yellow angels” had a particularly large number of missions in December 2023.

Kassel – If your car breaks down, the ADAC is often asked for help.

The “yellow angels” had over 3.5 million missions last year.

One problem occurred particularly frequently.

ADAC breakdown record: One problem occurred particularly frequently

Although the number of ADAC missions has decreased since 2018, they had to work significantly more last year.

The General German Automobile Club recorded an increase of 3.4 percent compared to the previous year.

As is suspected, this is mainly due to the increased traffic volume after the corona pandemic.

On average, the ADAC had to come out and provide breakdown assistance every nine seconds.

The day with the most frequent calls to roadside assistance shows that the number of calls for service in bad weather is increasing.

On December 4, 2023, there was a widespread and severe onset of winter with temperatures below zero.

The result was more than 18,000 calls in just one day - the record for last year.

In the cold season, the fines also increased.

The most common reason for the ADAC calling has not changed compared to the last few years: it was once again the car battery.

ADAC roadside assistance: Significant increase in electric cars in Germany

In over 44 percent of reported cases there were problems with the car battery.

Engine breakdowns take second place with only 22.8 percent, although these include problems with the injection, ignition or sensors.

Breakdowns with the generator, starter, the on-board electrical system or the lighting made it to third place.

The ADAC recorded a significant increase in the number of electric cars used.

The more than 30,000 missions represent an increase of around 50 percent compared to the previous year.

The starter battery was also the main cause of the breakdowns there.

It was even clearer with hybrid cars, where the battery was to blame in 64 percent of cases.

The ADAC sees the reason for this as the increase in e-mobility and the age of electric cars from earlier generations.

As with combustion engines, the susceptibility to breakdowns increases with age.

The bicycle breakdown assistance celebrated a successful start.

In 2023, 15,680 defective bicycles were repaired.
