Kaufland and other department stores also have the Ramadan calendar in their range this year.
Some complain that it is all about commerce.
Munich – Ramadan began for Muslims on March 10th this year.
During the traditional month of fasting, believers are not allowed to consume food or liquid from dawn to sunset.
Sick people, pregnant women and children are excluded.
At this important time, the latter can look forward to the Ramadan calendars, which Kaufland is offering again in 2024.
Ramadan calendar for children – offer at Kaufland divides opinion
Kaufland has been offering the controversial Ramadan calendars since 2018.
They are controversial because opinions on them are divided.
While some praise the offer, others speak of the “Islamization” of Germany.
A TikTok video by an opinion influencer even mentions capitalism.
One user wrote: “The main thing is sales.” Another sees it similarly: “You can make money out of everything.”
Despite the many negative reactions, it is clear that the majority of customers like the Ramadan calendar offered.
You can read comments like “I think it’s great”, “sweet idea” and “really cool”.
One user wrote: “Hopefully we have it too.
I would love to get this for my colleagues to at least build them up a little.” Another explained that this was thinking of everyone.
Popular in the range - not only Kaufland offers Ramadan calendars
Kaufland also knows that the Ramadan calendars are well received.
That's why the offer has remained in the range since it was introduced six years ago.
Other department stores are doing the same as supermarkets: the drugstore chain dm, among others, now offers the calendars.
However, they are not available in all German branches, as
WAZ
reports.
So if you're looking for it, you'll have to be lucky.

When asked, Marcel Rieser, dm area manager for the Ruhr area, explained to the newspaper that when selecting the range, particular attention was paid to the wishes and needs of customers.
“At dm, the dm teams decide independently which products they want to carry.
This is also how they decide what the Ramadan calendar offers,” Rieser continued.

The Ramadan calendars can - appropriately - often be found next to the chocolate Easter bunnies, which have been an integral part of Easter for years.
They look very similar to the Advent calendars that are popular during the Christmas season.
The contents are also similar, with toys and sweets hidden behind the 30 doors.
