According to the L'Obs investigation, this new work is part of the "new romance", a literary genre that appeared around ten years ago following the success of "Fifty Shades of Grey", by EL James, “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer or even “After” by Anna Todd.

It is a literary style that offers love stories with explicit sex scenes but without falling into pornography.

According to our information, it was Isabelle Saporta, the president and CEO of Éditions Fayard, who contacted Marlène Schiappa to offer her a novel of this style.

Isabelle Saporta recently declared to L'Obs that she wanted to offer “empowerment” romances with “powerful” and “non-submissive” women.

In the former minister's book, there will be talk of "a woman minister", indicated the director of the publishing house, but without giving further details.

Author of erotic books

This is actually Marlène Schiappa's original style of novel.

The one who now works as an associate in the communications consultancy firm Tilder, is notably the author of “Osez l’amour des ronds”, a 2010 work published by La Musardine.

Written in a rather playful tone, it was intended to be a plea in favor of curvy women, an erotic-humorous guide, but was singled out a few months after its release, deemed insulting and grossophobic.

The book also mentioned numerous sexual practices in passages also denounced by several critics, notably the one entitled “Fellatio: the specialty of the rounds”.

Marlène Schiappa also admitted to having written or co-written erotic books well before her entry to the government under the pseudonym Marie Minelli, such as “Sex, lies and hot suburbs”, “Dare the sexfriends” or even “Girls don't swallow” .

His new novel is currently being proofread by the publisher and should be released in June.

According to our information, the former minister has already received proposals for a film adaptation.
