The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella placed a laurel wreath on the tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Altare della Patria, on the occasion of National Unity Day.
After having reviewed the units of the armed forces deployed, and having listened to the national anthem alongside the president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa, the president of the Chamber Lorenzo Fontana, the prime minister Giorgia Meloni and the president of the constitutional court Augusto Barbera, Mattarella he is stopped in contemplation at the Unknown Soldier.
At the end of the ceremony Mattarella greeted the high officials of the State.
"Today, the Constitution, the Italian anthem and the Tricolor symbolize the Italian Republic.
The truer the ideal of our unity, the richer in opportunities the future of the Italian people will be.
The institutions are called, first, to set an example of collaboration and responsibility, of union in service to the common good".

"The winds of independence and freedom that swept through Europe in past centuries" "found the framework of guarantee in the path of European integration.
Today, we are faced with challenges not dissimilar to those that were faced then".
The Head of State Sergio Mattarella says so.
"The growing and terrible situation of instability characterized by increasingly bloody aggression, in Ukraine as in MO, threatens to involve the entire international community. These wars must be stopped, so that respect for human rights and international law is restored, to guarantee the life of every people", he adds
Meloni, let's renew our commitment to an increasingly united Italy
"Today 17 March we celebrate the Day of National Unity, of the Constitution, of the Anthem and of the Flag, foundations of our national identity. A day to renew our commitment towards an increasingly united Italy, to look to the future with confidence, aware that together we can overcome any challenge and unleash the best energies of our Nation. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni wrote it on social media.
On the occasion of the "Day of National Unity, of the Constitution of the anthem and the flag", today the main facade of Palazzo Chigi, in Piazza Colonna, is scheduled to be illuminated with the tricolor of the national flag.
