The objective is to accompany Egypt's economic and social reforms, contribute to mitigating the impact of the current crises taking place in Africa and in the Middle East. The aim is to support Egypt in strengthening its land and maritime border control capabilities to deal with the migrant emergency. The total allocation between loans and grants of 7.4 billion until 2027.

The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, landed at Cairo airport for the EU-Egypt summit and to sign a series of bilateral agreements with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as part of the Mattei Plan for Africa.


    The Prime Minister was welcomed by the Egyptian Minister of Antiquities and the Ambassador to Cairo, Michele Quaroni.

Meloniora will move to the Presidential Palace where she will have a bilateral meeting with the Egyptian president.


    Subsequently, the prime minister, together with the president of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen, the Belgian prime minister Alexander De Croo, the Greek prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the Austrian chancellor Karl Nehammer and the Cypriot president, Nikos Christodoulidis, will take part in the EU-Egypt meeting with Al-Sis which will lead to raising relations at the global and strategic partnership level, with a total allocation between loans and grants of 7.4 billion until 2027. The objective is to accompany Egypt's economic and social reforms, contribute to mitigating the impact of the current crises taking place in Africa and in the Middle East and support Egypt in strengthening its land and maritime border control capabilities to deal with the migrant emergency.
