German Chancellor Olaf Scholz warned that an Israeli attack on Rafah would make peace in the region "very difficult", Reuters reports online.
This - added the German leader - will be one of the main topics at the center of the talks with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benyamin Netanyahu, next Sunday, during his trip to the region.
"Right now, it's about ensuring that we achieve a lasting ceasefire," Scholz said after talks with Jordan's King Abdallah at his private residence in the Jordanian Red Sea port of Aqaba.
“This would allow us to prevent such a ground offensive from taking place,” he concluded.
