The Achziv neighborhood in Nahariya made headlines due to its controversial location relatively close to the beach, but the long-standing dispute ended in a compromise between the green bodies and the public and between the developer (Shaaf Nahariya Company) and the Nahariya Municipality, so that the construction was moved away from the water line and the developer received more land in the eastern part of the project.
Now they are starting to build a hotel in the neighborhood, in a part that has become a public space.
The hotel, which does not yet have a name, was built on an area of 6 dunams in front of beaches, lagoons, the love islands and the extension of the promenade from the city of Nahariya to the Achziv National Park.
The investment in the design and construction of the hotel amounts to approximately NIS 30 million, and the architectural design was done by "Pick Architects" and the interior design by "Barnowitz Cronenberg".
Its construction is expected to be completed in about a year and a half.
In the past, the place was active for tourism and the mythical resort "Club Med Akziv" operated there, which closed in the 90s, while the surrounding area was mostly designated for industry.
The understanding to what extent the coastline is a valuable asset and must be preserved for the public's well-being, led to a re-planning focused on the connection to Nahariya's character as a coastal city, in recreation and public access to the sea.

200 meters from the water line
The hotel under construction is located 200 meters from the water line as part of three hotel lots, commerce, public buildings, a marine education center and open spaces.
It will be a two-story boutique hotel with about 40 rooms and large balconies facing the sea.
The shape of the building borders an open green square towards the west without fences.
The hotel is built above a commercial ground floor.
The planning concept offers a "lean" hotel where most of the service will be independent and without staff.
The answer to all needs will be on the commercial ground floor, where restaurants, cafes, as well as additional spa and sports services, a marine equipment store, and more will be established.
These will serve the residents of the area and the guests of the hotel and provide a complete and holistic experience, where the guests will be able to choose the nature and type of service they prefer.
The hotel's management is aimed at sports tourism and young tourism, lovers of nature and the sea, who can enjoy the tourism experience and the space that Azziv and the Galilee have to offer.
The reservations and service that will be provided at the hotel will be by reservation in advance to create an experience for the guests on the one hand, and economy and competitiveness on the other hand.
Guests will be able to order cleaning services, food, bicycle rental, sports equipment, etc., so that the base price for the hotel will be attractive and any additional service will be ordered by the customer as needed.
The business model for the hotel is similar in nature to Lowcost flights.
Similar to hotels abroad such as citizen M. Reception at the hotel will be digital check-in/out.
