It is the only 100% French series in the international competition of the 2024 edition of the Séries Mania festival, which is currently being held in Lille (North) until March 22.

“In the Shadow” is a fiction long announced by France Télévisions, adapted from the novel published in 2011 co-written by former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe and the man who was his political advisor, Gilles Boyer.

Filming was completed in August 2023 and the six episodes are expected this year on France 2. Karin Viard and Melvil Poupaud play two candidates in the presidential primary of France's first right-wing party.

Behind the scenes are told by Swann Arlaud, in the role of César, the second's political advisor, a man in the shadows, an apparatchik.

This Saturday, March 16, the majority of the series team was present – even if Édouard Philippe was missing – to present the first two parts to the Lille public.

The festival-goers we met were won over.
